+Whenever you are in a Finder window, if you want to create a blank `notes.txt` file, just Cmd+Space to invoke Spotlight and start typing "NewText" until it autocompletes, then hit enter to create the file. If you have multiple Finder windows open, it will be created in the topmost one. You can create one on the desktop by clicking the desktop before invoking. If you already have a `notes.txt` in that directory, a `notes 1.txt` will be created, or `notes 2.txt`, etc.
